William "Bill" Young, Jr., age 98, of Henderson, Kentucky, formerly of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at Redbanks Nursing Home in Henderson. Mr. Young worked as a beverage delivery driver for Manion Beverage/Working Beverage in Evansville, Indiana for over 34 years. He was a United States Army veteran who served during WWII at the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded a Bronze Star. Mr. Young was a former member of the Wadesville, Indiana Volunteer Fire Department, the Trigg-Lyon Volunteer Fire Department, the Cadiz Lions Club, and Cadiz-Trigg County VFW Post 7890, where he formerly served as Post Commander. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by three sons, William "Bill" Young, III (Linda), Cadiz, Kentucky, Steven Young (Jan), Henderson, Kentucky, and Larry Young (Betsy), Eckerty, Indiana; one daughter, Mary "Fran" McKasson (Ronald), Gentryville, Indiana; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Young, Sr. and Gertrude Wilkens Young; his wife, Clara Francis Briggeler Young; one son, Mike Young; one brother, Euphis Young; and three sisters, Margaret Simms, Myrtle Askins, and Anna Louise Trainer.
Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, where the family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM Saturday, July 29, 2017. A memorial service, with full military honors, will begin at 2:00 PM with the Reverend Norman Cotton, Chaplain Tim Shockley, Karle Johnson, Commander, Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of Kentucky, and Jack Swinkowski, Commander, VFW Post 7890, officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Locust Hill Cemetery in Evansville, Indiana.
