William A. "Bill" Sumner, age 76, of Cadiz, KY, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2013, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Mr. Sumner retired as a press room operator for Johnson Controls after being employed 33 years. He was a member of Liberty Point Baptist Church, served in the US Army during the Berlin Crisis and was a member of the American Legion Post 74 where he served on the Pennyrile Honor Guard providing military funeral honors for deceased veterans. He was survived by: Step Daughter & Husband- Jennifer & Ernie Baker, Cadiz, KY, Step Son & Wife - Donnie & Shelia Holland, Cadiz, KY, Three Brothers & Sisters-In-Law - Robert "Bob" & Linda Sumner, Cadiz, KY, Jesse C. & Margaret Sumner, Cadiz, KY & Charles Thomas Sumner, Chicago, IL, Two Sisters & Brother-In-Law- Carolyn Ann Sumner, Cadiz, KY & Marilyn & Richard Hart, Cadiz, KY,Special Friend - Grace Johnson, Cadiz, KY, Three Step Grandchildren- John Holland, Darla Thomas & Amanda Baker, Two Step Great Grandchildren- Colson Thomas & Kaylee Holland. He was preceded in death by: Father - William Odell Sumner, Mother - Ruby Cameron Sumner, Wife - Maxine Holland Sumner & Brother - Donald Ray Sumner.
Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main St. -P.O. Box 2050 Cadiz, KY 42211-031 in Cadiz, KY where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, September 3, 2013. Funeral Service will be at Goodwin Funeral Home at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 4, 2013 with the Reverend Irvin Darnall officiating.
