Virginia Thomas

Virginia Thomas, age 81, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at her home in Cadiz.   Virginia was Valedictorian of her graduating class of 1953 at Dalton High School in Hopkins County.  She married Jesse R. Thomas that same year, and they soon moved to Trigg County, where she worked for several years at Trigg County Hospital and for Dr. Thornton Bryan.  Together, Virginia and Jesse owned and operated Cadiz Auto Parts and Kawasaki for 42 years.  She was most recently employed as a secretary at Classics Heavy Equipment in Cadiz.  She was an active member, along with her husband, in the West Kentucky Trail Riders.  Mrs. Thomas was a devoted member of Cadiz Baptist Church, where she served as Sunday School secretary for 25 years.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jesse R. Thomas of Cadiz; her son, Bobby R. (Debbie) Thomas of Cadiz; two grandsons, Dustin (Hannah) Thomas of Springfield, Tennessee, and Chase (Magen) Thomas of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; three great grandchildren, Kloe Lawson Thomas, Nolan Eli Thomas, and Grayson Reid Thomas; and one sister, Ruth Ann Lamirande of Leesville, Louisiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleo and Rosa Lofton Coffman, and one sister, Roberta Whitehouse.

Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, where the family will receive friends after 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2017.  Funeral  services will be at Cadiz Baptist Church at  2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 15, 2017 with the Reverend Kyle Noffsinger and Reverend Norman Cotton officiating.  The family will also receive friends at the church from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. Burial will follow at Matheny Cemetery in Land Between the Lakes in Trigg County.
