Thomas Burton "Tommy" Schmittou, age 56, of Whites Creek, Tennessee, and formerly of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Friday, December 8, 2017, at his home in Whites Creek. Mr. Schmittou worked as an optician at Lenscrafters at Green Hills Mall in Nashville, Tennessee, for more than 15 years. He was a 1980 graduate of Trigg County High School and was of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by his father, Thomas W. Schmittou of Murray, Kentucky; one brother, Anthony "Tony" Schmittou of Murray; two sisters, Denise Schmittou (Darrin Samborski) of Murray, and Sharon (Tom) Coffield of Fontana, California; two nieces, Nicole Schmittou of Murray, and Audra (Kevin) Patrick of Fontana; as well as several aunts, an uncle, cousins, and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Joanne Marie Schmittou, his paternal grandparents, Wilbur and Pauline Schmittou, and his maternal grandparents, Antonio and Angeline Sacco.
Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, where immediate family will receive friends and family members after 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 12, 2017. The funeral service will be at Goodwin Funeral Home at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, with Father Matthew Bradley officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Memorial Gardens in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
Memorial contributions in Tommy's name may be made to a local humane society or to a charity of the donor's choice.
