T.H. "Rod" Herndon

T. H. "Rod" Herndon, age 84, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at his home in Cadiz.  Mr. Herndon worked as the superintendent at Cedar Bluff and Kentucky Stone Rock Quarries and retired as a supervisor at Vulcan Materials Company in Grand Rivers, Kentucky.  He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Trigg County and a United States Army veteran, having served in the Korean War.

He is survived by: his wife - Helen Herndon, Cadiz; one son - John Herndon, Cadiz; five daughters - Tana Heffington (Mike), Cadiz; Angie Jones (Dixie), Hopkinsville, Kentucky; Lisa Sholar (Danny), Cadiz; Karen Walker (Johnny), Hopkinsville; and Melanie Green (Chris), Cadiz; two stepdaughters - Michelle Stone, Eddyville, Kentucky; and Desirea Beyer, Paducah, Kentucky; one sister - Jane Guier (Leslie), Bowling Green, Kentucky; eighteen grandchildren - Tina Stroud, Brandi Doss, Jamee Fowler, David Sholar, Carrie Wright, Eli Sholar, Ean Sholar, T. C. Bush, Krista Groves, Josh Green, Jacob Green, Devin Herndon, Jordan Stone, Morgan Stone, Alexis Beyer, Kelly Yazigi, J.D. Heffington, and Brianna Wolfe; seventeen great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and sister-in-law - Pauline Herndon, Cadiz.

He was preceded in death by: his parents - Thomas Henry Herndon, Sr. and Mary C. Edmonds Herndon; wife - Marilyn Herndon; two grandchildren - J. R. Taylor and Kyler Herndon; two brothers - Freddie Herndon and O.C. Herndon; and one sister - Mary Ruth Burnam.

Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home and Crematory, 138 Main Street in Cadiz, where the family will receive friends after 4:00 PM on Thursday, February 9, 2017.  The funeral service will be at Goodwin Funeral Home and Crematory at 2:00 PM Friday, February 10, 2017 with the Reverend Paxton Redd officiating.  Burial will follow at Trigg Memory Acres in Cadiz.

Dear Tana and Family, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad. When I think of him, I remember his smile! Though, I only knew him from church, I always thought he was a nice man. Nicole graduated with Devon, and sends her condolences as well. With Love, Rhonda (Bruchu) and Nicole.
