Leave Condolences

Stan was the kind of man that men strive to be. He was a man of his word and honored everything he said. He will be sorely missed and the memories of his kindness and caring smile will live forever in our minds.

Often I have ended a work day driving westward on Hwy 272 to look out across River Bend Farms - what a tranquil view - but also aware of the hard work necessary to maintain such a legacy. Stan has departed too early, but he gave much to the community and his family. I think of Mr. Casey and his horses, Mary Fran greeting me at the bank, T. at the Cadiz Restaurant. And, the crazy hand built knee board that Howell still had when we married. Stan and he built it in high school painted with a peace sign. Fortunately, neither broke their neck being pulled behind a boat. Please call at anytime if you want any copies of the baby photos of Stan when Howell's mom was his baby sitter. Bless you in this time of loss. Geneva

I always enjoyed being around Stan Baker. Some of my earliest memories are playing with Stan. My mother was a babysitter for Stan. I can remember us as small children. We had a great time as kids. I stayed overnight at his house, and he stayed overnight at mine. We were both farm boys. I always enjoyed his parents and grandparents. Later on most summer weekends, we enjoyed the lake with his family at Devils Elbow on Lake Barkley. We double dated in high school. Once we had dates to see The Supremes at Murray State. A lot of us had good times at the dances where his band played. In our forties we played basketball together once a week. Stan was in good shape and had a good shot. Stan was always friendly and easy going during our basketball games. He was always willing to give good advise about farming. I miss him and I know that everyone else does too. Geneva and I ask his family to accept our sympathy.

We are very sorry for your loss.

Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel about Stan's passing. Hold tight to memories for comfort, lean on your friends for strength, and may the peace that comes from the memories of love shared comfort you now and in the days ahead.
