Roy T. Kenady

Roy Thomas "Bud" Kenady, age 80, of Hopkinsville, KY, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.  After working as a Nurse's Aid at Western State Hospital in the late 1950's, Mr. Kenady began his career as a carpenter.  He was employed by Wadlington Brother Construction for 18 years where he worked on many construction projects at Ft. Campbell, KY.  Afterwards, he went to work at the Kentucky State Penitentiary in Eddyville, KY where he taught inmates the craft of carpentry.  Mr. Kenady also drove a school bus for the Christian County School District for many years.  He was an avid outdoorsman with a love for fishing.  In recent years, he appeared on a fishing episode of the outdoor television program, Kentucky Afield with host Tim Farmer.

He is survived by: his wife of 61 years - Martha Kenady, Hopkinsville, KY; three sons - Larry Kenady (Kathy), Cadiz, KY; Bobby Kenady, Hopkinsville, KY; and Mike Kenady (Susan), Hopkinsville, KY; three grandchildren - Bryan Kenady; Brad Kenady (Kristina); and Stacy Kenady; one great grandchild - Alexis Bohn; two brothers - Jack Kenady, Gracey, KY; and Larry Kenady (Barbara), Hopkinsville, KY; and two sisters - Judy Dulin (Grandville), Crofton, KY; and Doris Ann Goode, Hopkinsville, KY.

He was preceded in death by: his parents - William Franklin & Edith Atwood Kenady; and two brothers - John Kenady and Don Kenady.

Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, KY, where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, December 22, 2016.  The funeral service will be at Goodwin Funeral Home at 10:00 AM Friday, December 23, 2016 with the Reverend Ronnie Byers officiating.  Burial will follow at Millwood Cemetery in Caldwell County, KY.

Our prayers are with you and your family through this difficult time. It was such an honor to know and love Roy. He was certainly a very special person who will always remain in our hearts. He will be missed but never forgotten. Love always...

Roy has been a wonderful father figure to Mike and I, we loved talking to him, watching him drive Martha around in golf cart. there are so many memories, all make me smile. Love and Prayers to Martha and the family as they struggle with their loss...we love you all

I smile each time I think about those times at the campground when you and Roy would come riding up on your golf cart with smiles and cheerful conversation.
