Robert L. "Bob" Hancock, age 84, of Cadiz, KY, passed away Friday, November 11, 2016, at Trigg County Hospital in Cadiz, KY. Mr. Hancock was retired from the United States Army, having served from 1950 until 1970, which included tours of combat during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After his retirement from the US Army, he began working at Lake Barkley State Resort Park in Cadiz, KY, where he retired as Chief Chef in the dining facility. He was a member of Dyers Chapel United Methodist church in Cadiz, KY.
He is survived by: one son - Bob Hancock (Kit), Louisville, KY; one daughter - Kathy Knight (Caroline), Paducah, KY; grandson - Todd Hancock (Kara), Louisville, KY; great granddaughter - Heidi Hancock, Louisville, KY; one brother - Franklin Hancock, Cadiz, KY; and two sisters - Judy Edmonds, Cadiz, KY; and Helen Hite, Cadiz, KY. He was preceded in death by: his parents - Luther & Augusta Carpenter Hancock; his wife of 56 years - Virginia "Jeanie" Hancock; seven brothers - Tom Hancock, Charles Hancock, Lewis Hancock, Ernest "Dee Dee" Hancock, Leslie Hancock, Doug Hancock, and Roy Hancock; and five sisters - Ann Hardy, Margurite Hancock, Laura Humphries, Linda Thomas, and Mary Edmonds.
Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, KY where the family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Monday, November 14, 2016. The Funeral Service will be at Goodwin Funeral Home at 12:00 PM, Monday, November 14, 2016, with the Reverend Charles Williams officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Kentucky Veteran's Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, KY.
