Robert K. "Bob" Broadbent, age 73, of Cadiz, KY, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at Murray-Calloway County Hospital in Murray, KY. Bob Broadbent was a graduate of U. K. College of Agriculture with Master's Degree. He was a member of Gamma Sigma Honor Society-College of Agriculture. Farmer for 50 years, being involved in raising cattle, hogs and row crops including corn, soybeans and wheat. He was the President and owner of Broadbent Nursery, producing quality trees and shrubs sold across the United States. He was also involved in the family business, Broadbent Foods producing county hams, bacon and sausage. A member of Farm Bureau Association where he was a member of the National Farm Bureau Advisory Board, President and Director of Trigg County Farm Bureau, Director on the Ky Farm Bureau Board for 10 years, also awarded the Farm Bureau State Leadership Award. He was President of Pennyrile Pork Producers, President and Director of the Ky Pork Producers and received the Pork All American Award presented by the National Pork Producers Association. Mr. Broadbent was President and Director of the Ky Maine Anjou Cattle Association, served as the Director on the National Maine Anjou Cattle Association Board, recipient of the Outstanding Beef Producers of KY Award. He received the Distinguished Ag Alumni Award, served as Director on the U.K. Agriculture Board and U. K. Fellow. He had served as the Director and Past President of the Pennyrile Rural Electric Board, he served as President for 10 years and member of the board for 46 years. Mr. Broadbent served as President and Advisory Board member of the Breathitt Diagnostic Center in Hopkinsville, KY. Member of Ky Nursery Association where he served as President and Director. Served as a Advisory Board member of the Ky State Penitentiary in Eddyville, KY, President an Director of the Cadiz Lions Club. He was member of the Cadiz Gideon Camp and church speaker. He was a sponsor of several children in Guatemala through the Adopt A Village Program, He also served on mission trips to Jamaica and Cuba. He was a 50 year member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church and a member of Cadiz Baptist Church. He is survived by his Wife Marcia Broadbent, Cadiz, KY, Son Robert Kendall Broadbent, II, Nashville, TN, Daughter Anne Vaughn Hargis, Lexington, KY, Step Daughter Jan West Goldberg, Louisville, KY, Stepson Jeff West, Murray, KY, Twin Brother Smith D. Broadbent, III, Cadiz, KY, Sister Anne Bennett Adams, Murray, KY, Grandchildren Caroline Vaughn Hargis, Lucy Elizabeth Hargis, Bradley Stewart Hargis, Lilly Goldberg and Lauren Goldberg. He was preceded in death by his Father Smith Dudley Broadbent, Jr., Mother Mildred Holmes Broadbent and Sister Sarah Holmes Broadbent.

Box 2050 Cadiz, KY 42211-031 in Cadiz, KY where the family will receive friends from 4:30 PM till 9:00 PM Friday, August 12, 2011 and Saturday, August 13, 2011, 10:00 AM until the funeral time at Cadiz Baptist Church. Funeral Service will be at Cadiz Baptist Church at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 13, 2011 with the Reverend Kevin Roberts & Eston Glover, Jr. officiating.
