Myrtle C. Harper, age 84, of Kuttawa, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at Covington's Convalescent Center in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Mrs. Harper was a homemaker, an excellent cook, and a skilled seamstress. She also worked on the family dairy farm alongside her late husband Woodson. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Princeton, Kentucky, and a former long-time member of Caldwell Blue Spring Baptist Church where she served as church secretary.
She is survived by one son, Dale Harper (Dale L.), Utica, Kentucky; one daughter, Joan Baldree (Mike), Destin, Florida; six grandchildren, Jennifer Witherspoon (Joe), Emily Sargent (Patrick), John Baldree (Kim), Anita Harper, Thomas Harper (Sarah), and Benjie Harper (Kathy); nine great grandchildren, Logan Thomas, Brian Sargent, Matthew Sargent, Kaleb Baldree, Brooklyn Baldree, Riley Harper, Addison Harper, Taylor Butts, and Avery Harper; one brother, Dallas Candler (Cheryl), Hopkinsville; two brothers-in-law, Willard Morrow, Hopkinsville, and Don Henderson, Columbus, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Geneva Harper Wyatt, West Frankfort, Illinois, and Dora Candler, Hopkinsville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert F. and Maud Gray Candler; her husband of 65 years, Woodson Harper; one brother and sister-in-law, Clyde and Katie Mae Candler; two sisters, Robbie Morrow and Doris Henderson; and a nephew, Richard Folden.
Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, Kentucky, where the family will receive friends on Friday, July 28, 2017 from 1:00 PM until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 PM, with the Reverend Ronnie Sivells officiating. Burial will follow at Caldwell Blue Spring Baptist Church Cemetery in Caldwell County, Kentucky.
