Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Curtsinger, age 93, formerly of Cadiz, KY, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Sunrise Manor in Hodgenville, KY. Mrs. Curtsinger worked for the Quartermaster Depot at the U.S. Census Bureau in Jeffersonville, IN after high school. She left her job after marriage to raise their family of eight children. She was a resident of Louisville, KY for many years before retiring to Fancy Farm, KY with her husband, Joseph Carmon Curtsinger, Sr., who preceded her in death. Mrs. Curtsinger was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Cadiz.
She is survived by two sons, Dr. Joseph C. Curtsinger, Jr. (Lucy Ellen Dahlgren), Nashville, TN, and Robert Curtsinger, Lexington, KY; six daughters, Mary E. (Roger) Haney, Murray, KY, Dr. Barbara Jeanne Gibson, DVM, Danville, KY, Margaret Ann Curtsinger, Cadiz, KY, Judith F. Curtsinger, Cadiz, KY, Dr. Catherine R. (John) Soldo, Hopkinsville, KY, and Dorothy Zimmerman, Gainesville, FL; 12 grandchildren, Julia Haney Strickland, Steven Haney, Christopher Gibson, Jacqueline Curtsinger, Jerome Soldo, Christiane Soldo, Andrew Zimmerman, Thomas Zimmerman, Jason Curtsinger, Patrick Curtsinger, Nicholas Curtsinger, and Lukas Curtsinger; and six great grandchildren, Katie Strickland, Will Strickland, Erin Strickland, Dorje Gibson, Zayleigh Curtsinger, and Reagan Curtsinger.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Caroline Young Heuser; her husband, Joseph Carmon Curtsinger, Sr.; and two brothers, George Heuser and Charles Heuser.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1698 Canton Road in Cadiz, followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at St. Stephen Catholic Church, with Father Gregory Trawick presiding, preceded by visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in St. Jerome Cemetery in Fancy Farm at 3:00 p.m. Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz.
