Marie Calhoun Birdsong

Marie Calhoun Birdsong, age 78, of Nashville, TN, a native of Golden Pond, KY & a long time resident of Cadiz, KY, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at Green Hills Health & Rehabilitation Center in Nashville, TN,  Mrs. Birdsong retired after 27 years of service from the Trigg County School System where she taught 7th grade Social Studies classes at Trigg County Middle School.  She was a former member of the Cadiz-Trigg County Business & Professional Women's Club and was a member of Cadiz Baptist Church. She is survived by: One Son - Johnny Birdsong & wife, Shelly, Franklin, TN; One Daughter - Kim Birdsong, Nashville, TN; Two Grandchildren - Jonathan "Bo" Birdsong & Keeling Birdsong.  She was preceded in death by: Parents - Alfred Arelus & Estelle Luton Calhoun; Two Brothers - Maurice Blane Calhoun, & William Gary Calhoun; and One Sister - Marjorie Lester.  Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, KY, where the family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Saturday, May 7, 2016.  The Funeral Service will be at Goodwin Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Saturday, May 7, 2016 with the Reverend Carey Calhoun officiating.  Burial will follow at East End Cemetery in Cadiz, KY.

Kim; I am very sorry to learn of the passing of your mother. Jeff Carr ( my roommate at WKU ) informed me of your loss.

Kim and Johnny .. and all your family..... Marie ..... or Anna Marie as I still call her in my mind..... was such a lovely person - inside and out. I have many happy memories associated with her! You both have been such caring children ... she was blessed... and is even more blessed now .. at rest and peace. You are all in my heart and prayers. Charly Anna
