Karen D. Stone

Karen D. Stone, age 59, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017, at her home.  Karen was a loving wife, mother, sister, and aunt.  She was a supportive wife of her husband, Stephen's, military service and career.  She was a volunteer for the Special Forces Association Chapter 38.  She also served as the treasurer of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Unit 74, and as treasurer of the Green Beret Veterans Association at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky.  Karen was a member of Casky Baptist Church in Hopkinsville.

She is survived by her husband, Stephen C. Stone, Hopkinsville; daughter, Shannon L. Stone, Hopkinsville; sister, Yvonne Herron (James), Anchorage, Alaska; two nieces, Sarah Rector and Nanette Copeland, both of Little Rock, Arkansas; two nephews, Steven Wallace, Ft. Worth, Texas, and Matt Herron, Anchorage, Alaska; great nephew, Alex Rector; two great nieces, Sydney Rector and Fallon Peddie; and brother-in-law, Carl Peddie, Bristol, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Evelyn Welch Wolfinger, and one sister, Linda Wolfinger Peddie.  

Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, Kentucky, where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday, May 24, 2017.  The funeral service will be at Goodwin Funeral Home at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 25, 2017, with the Reverend Jesse Brown officiating.  Burial will follow at 1:00 PM at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West, 5817 Ft. Campbell Boulevard, Hopkinsville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Green Beret Veterans Association, P.O. Box 1287, Ft. Campbell, Kentucky 42223, or to Casky Baptist Church, 4090 Casky Lane, Hopkinsville, Kentucky 42240.

Steve, I can't begin to tell you how very sorry I am to learn of Karen's death. It is so very difficult to lose your life partner. I pray that you, Shannon and the rest of your family are carried by a deep and abiding faith......and that you KNOW with all your hearts that you WILL see her again. I will be keeping you in my prayers. Eileen

Steve, family and friends: I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful partner. She will be missed at the registration desk by all who attended the 5th Group reunions and Chapter 38 gatherings. She was a super Texas gal.
