John Marshall Gray

John Marshall Gray,82,of Murray, KY, and former resident of Trigg County, KY, passed away Friday, November 7, 2014 at Benchmark Healthcare, Puryear, TN from complications of Parkinson's. He was born May 1, 1932 in Trigg County, KY to the late Andrew and Lola Bridges Gray. He was a heavy equipment operator and member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 181 retiring from TVA's LBL. Mr. Gray was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Murray and the Praise Sunday School class and was a former 44-year member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Cadiz, KY. Marshall was a member of the Descendants of Washington's Army at Valley Forge; a member of Cadiz Masonic Lodge #121, F&AM of KY; and Woodmen of the World Camp 20, Cadiz since 1950. He was a devoted fan of Southern Gospel Music, loved to travel, enjoyed genealogy and his hobby of woodworking and refinishing furniture. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: one brother in infancy, Homer Mason Gray; brother, George Gray; sister-in-law, Marilyn Gray; brother-in-law, Alton Thomas; and his father and mother-in-law, Boyce & Martha Braboy. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Virginia Braboy Gray; two daughters and sons-in-law: Marcia and Steve Rutland of Enterprise, Alabama; Lydia and Scott Bosse of Madison, Alabama; one son and daughter-in-law: Ronnie and Reta Gray of Murray, KY; two sisters and brother-in-law: Stella Thomas of Trigg County, KY; Jewell and Bobby Prescott of Cadiz, KY; two sisters-in-law and husbands: Bernice and Jesse Reide Brown of Glasgow, KY; Janice and Joe Powell of Trigg County, KY; six grandchildren: Jennie (Rutland) and Bill Dart of DeForest, Wisconsin; Katie (Rutland) and Ben Nelson of Mobile, Alabama; Garrett Bosse and fiancée, Emily Hughes of Madison, Alabama; Jonathan Bosse of Madison, Alabama; Scottie Rob and Carla Gray of Hazel, KY; Ryan and Tiffany Gray of Murray, KY; seven great-grandchildren: Addison Dart, Bentley Grace Dart, Abigail Nelson, Aiden Nelson, Jared Gray, Lyric Gray, Layla Gray; three step great-grandsons: Tripp Cleaver, Jhanzen Cleaver, Ayden Lee; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be on Monday, November 10, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz with the Reverend Ben Nelson & Reverend Matt Ellis officiating & Scott Bosse will provide the eulogy. Burial will follow in East End Cemetery, Cadiz. Visitation in Cadiz will be on Monday, November 10, 2014 from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 1:00 pm. There will also be a visitation in Murray, KY at the Westside Baptist Church, 207 Robertson Road South on Sunday, November 9, 2014 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Memorial Contributions can be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church Relay for Life cancer fund, c/o Jim Tribble, 890 Kings Chapel Rd., Cadiz, KY 42211; Gideons Int.; or charity of the donor's choice.
