James "Jamie" Rogers, age 87, of Cadiz, KY, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2014, at his home in Cadiz, KY. Mr. Rogers retired from the US Army with 22 years of service as a 1st SGT and from the US Civil Service Service Department after 16 years as a pipe fitter and aircraft maintenance technician at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH. He was a Korean & Vietnam War Veteran, having received two Bronze Stars for meritorious service in a combat zone. He was a member of Delmont Baptist Church for 62 years where he had served as a Sunday School teacher. He was also a member of the VFW, American Legion & the Woodman of the World, Chapter 20. He is survived by: Wife - Kay Rogers, Cadiz, KY, Two Sons & Daughter-In-Law- Donald Rogers, North Richland Hills, TX, Lance & Ginger Birdsong, Evansville, IN, Three Daughters & Sons-In-Law- DeLana Gray, Grand Junction, CO, Lori & Randall Hillman, Cadiz, KY, Lisa & John Moore, Cadiz, KY, Seven Grandchildren & Spouses- Katarina Rogers & Husband, Christopher Howington, Miranda Gonzalez & Husband, Paul, Randi Lynn Broadbent & Husband, Michael, Lynzie Mackey & Husband, Michael, Adrienne Hillman, Quinton Moore & Kamryn Moore, Five Great Grandchildren- Landon Mackey, Kayden Broadbent, Joel Gonzalez, Brycen Broadbent & Avery Mackey, Four Step Grandchildren, Six Step Great Grandchildren & Son-in-law- Michael Gray, Cadiz, KY. He was preceded in death by: Father - Bernice Rogers, Mother - Elna Carr Rogers, First Wife - Vera Rogers, One Grandson - Seth Olin Moore & Sister & Brother-In-Law- Ruth & Bud Simmons. Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main St. -P.O. Box 2050 Cadiz, KY 42211-031 in Cadiz, KY where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Saturday, October 25, 2014. A additional visitation will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Delmont Baptist Church from 12:30 PM until the time of the service of 2:00 PM. Funeral Service will be at Delmont Baptist Church, 114 Delmont Cemetery Road in Cadiz, KY at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 26, 2014 with the Reverend Terry Mitcheson, Reverend Wayne Glass & Reverend John Mitchell officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Delmont Baptist Church Cemetery in Cadiz, KY.
