James E. "Jimmy" Adams

James E. "Jimmie" Adams, age 87, of Cadiz, KY, passed away Saturday March 8, 2014 at his home in Trigg Co., KY.  Mr. Adams had worked in construction building log homes and barns for area farmers.  He also was a farmer, where he and his family owned operated the family farm in the Siloam community of Trigg Co., KY.  Through his experience of agriculture he was honored with being awarded the WKDZ Trigg County Farmer of the Year award in 2010 and produced the Trigg Co. Country Ham Festival Grand Champion Ham in 2012.  He attended Siloam United Methodist Church and was a US Army veteran having served during the WW II era.  He is survived by: Wife of 61 years - Opal Vanzant Adams, Cadiz, KY, One Son & Daughter-In-Law - James, Jr. & Karen Adams, Cadiz, KY, One Daughter & Son-In-Law - Debbie & Skeets Houchins, Crofton, KY, Three grandchildren & Spouses- James Paul "J.P." & Leslie Proffitt, Sarah & Jason Hawkins, James, III & Amanda Adams,  Four Great Grandchildren- Thomas Hawkins, Noah Hawkins, Chloe Adams & Balian Abel, One Brother - Donnie Adams, Princeton, KY & One Sister - Ruth Nichols, Princeton, KY.  He was preceded in death by: Father - Maurice Leon Adams & Mother - Georgia Cook Adams. 

Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main St. -P.O. Box 2050 Cadiz, KY 42211-031 in Cadiz, KY where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, March 10, 2014.  Funeral  Service will be at Goodwin Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 11, 2014 with the Reverend James Shuck & Perry Alexander officiating.  Burial will follow at Siloam Cemetery in Trigg Co., KY.  Memorial Contributions can be made to: Siloam Cemetery Fund, 1808 Siloam Rd., Cadiz, KY 42211.

Opal, Junior and Debbie, I am so sorry to hear about Jimmie. I only read it online today. I wish I had known sooner to attend the visitation. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Teri

Jimmie will be truly missed. He could always make me laugh. He was wonderful neighbor, none could ask for better. Opal, Debbie and Junior my thoughts are with you.

Mr. Jimmie was such a fine man. My dad Plomer knew he could on Jimmie Adams no matter what he had to build or move. Harold
