Gus Thim, age 82, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky. Mr. Thim worked as a machine maintenance technician for different corporations in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area, including the Dial Soap Corporation. He was of the Baptist faith and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Gus was a motorcycle enthusiast who rode up until his 80th birthday. He and his wife Alberta also enjoyed boating the waterways of the Tennessee River and Cumberland River channels south through Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama.
He is survived by his wife, Alberta Thim of Cadiz; one son, Jason (Ann) Thim of Philadelphia; two grandsons; a sister-in-law, Florence Enoch of Philadelphia; and a nephew, Joseph Enoch of Philadelphia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gustav Thim, Jr. and Helen Thim; one sister, Helen Kluge; and a brother-in-law, Larry Carneglia.
Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, where the family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2017, with the funeral service to begin at 11:00 a.m., with Father Gregory Trawick officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
