Dr. Robert W. Niles, age 93, of Coeur d Alene, ID, formerly of Cadiz, KY, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at The Garden at Orchard Ridge in Coeur d Alene, ID. Dr. Niles attended and graduated from Pacific University with a Bachelor of Science & went on to obtain his doctorate from the Southern Illinois College of Optometry. After graduation, he moved to Cadiz, Ky., where he practiced optometry for 44 years. He was a very active member of the Cadiz Baptist Church, teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir for 40 years with his beautiful tenor voice. He was also a member of the Cadiz Lions Club, other civic organizations and supporter of the Gideon Bible Society. Bob was in World War II in General Patton’s 3rd Army, 9th Infantry and served in Germany. He had a deep love and respect for his country and was proud to serve. He is survived by: Two Daughters- Peggy Smith & husband, Ray, Coeur d Alene, ID, Becky Cain & husband Roger, Murfreesboro, TN, Five Grandchildren- Tammy, Sherry, Penny, Heath & Holly. Six Great Grandchildren- Nick, Rachel, Brandon, Graham, Liam & Fenton. He was preceded in death by: Parents - Lee & Ethel , Wife - Marion Cannon Niles, One Brother - Bud, One Sister- Jean Niles & Two Step Brothers- Allen & Ken. Local arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main St. in Cadiz, KY. Burial for Dr. Niles was at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Medical Lake, WA. There will be a celebration of Life service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, at Pleasant View Church, 19587 W. Riverview Drive, Post Falls, Idaho.
