Ben "Happy" Moore

Benjamin Chandler Happy Moore, age 77, of Cadiz, KY, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014, at his home in Cadiz, KY.  Mr. Moore had worked eight years for the Gulf oil Co. in Flora, IL, fifteen years with Thomas Industries in Hopkinsville, KY, five years for the Cadiz Police Department in Cadiz, KY and retired after 20 years from the Lake Barkley State Resort Park where he was the warehouseman & night clerk.  He was an active member of Cadiz Untied Methodist Church where he had served on the finance & nominating committee, was chairman of the trustees for six years and assisted with maintenance projects within the church.  He was also a member of the Woodman of the World, Chapter 20, where he had served as president and vice president, the Cadiz Optimist Club and the Pennyrile Emmaus Community. He is survived by: Wife of 39 Years - Phyllis Dowdy Moore, Cadiz, KY, Two Daughters & Son-In-Law- Sarah Elizabeth Moore & Scott Key, Cadiz, KY, Genee Grace Moore, Seymour Johnson AFB, Goldsboro, NC, Two Sisters & Brother-In-Law- Velma Morgan, Big Rock, TN & Sue & John Goodrich, Clarksville, TN, Two Grandchildren- Christopher Key & Wife, Lauren, Orlando, FL, Dawson Walker Moore, Goldsboro, NC, One Great Grandson- Quilan Key, Orlando, FL.  He was preceded in death by:  Father - John C Moore, Mother - Lurline Dawson Moore, Four Brothers- Gene Moore, Thomas Moore, Jammie Moore & John Robert Moore & Two Sisters- Mary Fletcher & Eleanor Darnell.  Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main St. -P.O. Box 2050 Cadiz, KY 42211-031 in Cadiz, KY.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the Cadiz United Methodist Church & again on Friday, June 13, 2014 from 12:00 PM until the funeral time of 1:00 PM.  Funeral  Service will be at Cadiz United Methodist Church at 1:00 PM Friday, June 13, 2014 with the Reverend Scott Wilson & Dr. Hilda Bentley officiating.  Burial will follow at Trigg Memory  Acres in Cadiz, KY.  Memorial Contributions can be made to: Cadiz United Methodist Church, Playground fund, 482 Lakota Drive, Cadiz, KY 42211 or Trigg Co. My condolences to the Moore family. May it help you to know that after resting in death, many of our loved ones we loss in death will be resurrected or brought back to life on earth God's son. The Bible says: "Do not marvel at this, for the hour is coming in which all in the memorial tombs will hear his (Jesus) voice and come out" (John 5:26, 28-29) May this fact bring you and your family some comfort in your days ahead.

Hi Phyllis and Girls, so so sorry to hear about Ben. He was a very special man and will live on through each of you and all the lives he touched. You all are very special to us. We are sorry we weren't able to be w/ you in person during this time--but please know that you all have been and will continue to be in our prayers and our love is w/ you. I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that you are never alone. You can find much comfort in the Holy Scriptures which assures us at Psalms 34:18 that God is near to those broken at heart and crushed in spirit. Please accept my deepest sympathies.
