Steve Francis

James Steven Coombs Francis, age 60, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at his home in Cadiz.  Mr. Francis was employed as a Social Security Disability Representative for over 29 years.  He was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation Trigg County Longspurs Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution Col. Stephen Trigg Chapter, and Wounded Warriors Outdoors.  Steve was also a member of the 1971-1972 Trigg County State Football Championship team. He was an active member of Crossroads Fellowship Church, where he served as a deacon.

Jerry Lloyd "Bud" Cannon

Jerry Lloyd "Bud" Cannon, age 73, of Nashville, Tennessee, a native of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Tennessee State Veteran's Home in Clarksville, Tennessee.  Mr. Cannon was an HVAC technician and owner/operator of Cadiz Heating and Air Conditioning for over 25 years.  He was a United States Army veteran who served his country during the Vietnam Era.  "Bud" was a member of Delmont Baptist Church in Trigg County.

Martha Powell

Martha Powell, age 73, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah, Kentucky.  Mrs. Powell was a homemaker and a member of Caldwell Blue Spring Baptist Church in Caldwell County, Kentucky.

Jim Lancaster

Jim Lancaster, age 72, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017, at his home in Cadiz.  Mr. Lancaster retired from the City of Cadiz where he served as the City Clerk for 27 years.  He was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church where he served as church treasurer.  Jim was a proud United States Army veteran, having served in the Vietnam War. He was an avid tennis player and enjoyed the sport for many years.

Carolin Edith Metcalf

Carolin Edith Metcalf, 79, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at Trigg County Hospital in Cadiz.  Mrs. Metcalf was a homemaker and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Jefferson, Georgia.

She is survived by two sons, Sidney Metcalf and  Douglas Metcalf, both of Cadiz; one brother, E. B. Shannon of Jefferson, Georgia; two sisters, Vivian Thomas of Winder, Georgia, and Beatrice Can of Jefferson, Georgia; and special friend, Lolen Metcalf of Cadiz.

Steven "Steve" Silfies

Steven "Steve" Silfies, age 54, of Cerulean, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017, at his home in Cerulean.   Steve retired as a Master Sergeant with the 5th Special Forces Group from the United States Army and was currently serving the Commonwealth of Kentucky as a Detective with the Kentucky State Police, Post 2.

Rodney Bleidt

Rodney Bleidt, age 77, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017, at Trigg County Hospital in Cadiz.  Mr. Bleidt began his career as a Pharmacist in 1963 and during that time, for nearly twenty years, he was the owner of Bleidt's Pharmacy in Cadiz.  He previously served as a board member and state inspector on the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy, where he was appointed by former Kentucky Governor, Martha Layne Collins.  Mr.

Jamie Hendon

Jamie Hendon, age 42, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017, at his home in Cadiz.  Jamie previously worked in construction as a drywall  finisher. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Samantha "Sam" Hendon, Cadiz; his mother, Rosa Lee Hendon, Cadiz; one son,  Hunter Hendon (Rebekah), Cadiz; one daughter, Haley Hendon, Cadiz; one brother, Terry Lee Hendon, Princeton, Kentucky; and two stepsons, Travis Stansberry, Colorado, and Edward Layne, Cadiz.

Karen D. Stone

Karen D. Stone, age 59, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017, at her home.  Karen was a loving wife, mother, sister, and aunt.  She was a supportive wife of her husband, Stephen's, military service and career.  She was a volunteer for the Special Forces Association Chapter 38.  She also served as the treasurer of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Unit 74, and as treasurer of the Green Beret Veterans Association at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky.  Karen was a member of Casky Baptist Church in Hopkinsville.

Hazel Alexander Bush

Hazel Alexander Bush, Frankfort, Kentucky, entered her eternal rest on May 15, 2017, while living in Wesley Village in Wilmore, Kentucky.  A long-time resident of Frankfort, Mrs. Bush was preceded in death by her husband, Travis M. Bush, her parents Otis and Lexie Alexander, sister Ann Larkins and brother James Alexander, and a grandson, William B. Drescher, Jr.   She is survived by her children Shirley Bush Drescher (Bill) of Nashville, Tennessee, Harold T.

Barbara Jean Clark Long

Barbara Jean Clark Long, age 86, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at her home.  Mrs. Long was an author and poet, who discovered her love for writing at the age of six.

David E. Nelson

David E. Nelson, age 60, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at his home.  Mr. Nelson was a farm laborer and was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by a great nephew, Greg Denton (Charley Hooks) of Cadiz; three great-great nephews, Brandon Denton, Bryan Denton, and Austin Turnes, all of Cadiz; and one great-great niece, Bella Turnes of Cadiz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Mildred Nelson, and one brother, Ricky Nelson.

Rosalina Peña Lopez

Rosalina Peña Lopez, age 72, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017, at Baptist Health Hospital in Madisonville, Kentucky.  Mrs. Lopez retired from quality control at Schick Manufacturing in Milford, Connecticut, after 22 years of employment.  She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Hopkinsville.

Mary Grace Henderson Baker

Mary Grace Henderson Baker, age 88, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Monday, May 1, 2017, at Barkley Plantation in Cadiz.  Mrs. Baker was a homemaker and had worked at Arvin Industries in Princeton, Kentucky for over 10 years.  She was a devoted member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Trigg County, where she was a Sunday School teacher, an active participant of the WMU and church choir, and formerly sang in a church quartet.

Edith Cameron Fourshee

Edith Cameron Fourshee, age 92, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017, at Barkley Plantation in Cadiz.  Mrs. Fourshee retired from the former Trigg County Farmers Bank after 35 years of service.  She was a faithful member of Cadiz Baptist Church for many years and was also the second oldest member.
