Robert "Bobby" Vier

Robert "Bobby" Vier, age 70, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at Baptist Health Hospital in Madisonville, Kentucky.  Mr. Vier worked as a truck driver for many years.  He was most recently self-employed as Bobby Vier Trucking and worked part-time for Brewco Marketing in Central City.  He previously drove for Jones Brothers Trucking and worked for many years at Phelps Dodge in Hopkinsville.  Bobby enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman.  He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Moore Lyons Vier of Hopkinsville; one son, Bobby (Cindy) Vier, and one daughter, Amy (Norman "Tojo") Plummer, both of Hopkinsville; two step sons, Brian (Sharon) Davis of Gallatin, Tennessee, and James Lyons of Hopkinsville; two step daughters, Dr. Laura Lyons (Dr. Luther) Parker of Pleasureville, Kentucky, and Dr. Leslie Lyons (Ben) Duncan of Dover, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Charlsie Parker, Nellie Parker, Cooper Duncan, Cameron Vier, Bailey Denise Vier, and Ben Davis; and one sister, Diana (Shelah) Shelton of Hopkinsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Major Vier, Sr. and  Willie Ezell Vier; two brothers, John Walden Vier and Major Vier, Jr.; and three sisters, Mary Lee Joiner, Liz Stallons, and Ruth Morris.

Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, where the family will receive friends after 4:00 p.m. on Friday, December 22, 2017.  Funeral services will be at Goodwin Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 23, 2017 with Reverend John Mitchell officiating and Mr. Shelah Shelton delivering the eulogy.  Burial will follow in Powell Cemetery in Lafayette.

I will miss him.

We are so sorry for your loss. Bobby was a great guy and will be missed by many. Thoughts and prayers are with you all.

We were all so very saddened to hear of Bobby's passing yesterday. It was just a week ago today that he was here having Christmas lunch with us. Our prayers are with you Martha and your family.
