Bennie Allen, age 85, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at his home. Mr. Allen was owner and operator of the former Pioneer Radio and T.V. Service in downtown Cadiz for more than 40 years. He was one of the founding organizers and member of the Trigg County Disaster and Emergency Services for more than 30 years and also served on the Trigg County Election Commission for 25 years. Bennie was a skilled steel guitar musician who often performed at the Downtown Opry in Hopkinsville, as well as playing alongside the late Jim Ricks; he was also a former member of the Joe Moore band, the Combinations. Mr. Allen was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruenell Allen, Cadiz; daughter-in-law, Margie Allen Scroggins (Donnie), Cadiz; grandson, Benji Allen, Cadiz; granddaughter, Tori Scroggins, Cadiz; one sister, Nora "Noki" Nokimos, Danville, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Attie Johnson Allen; his son, Trency Allen; two brothers, Dennie Allen and Glenn Allen; and five sisters, Rosie Finley, Lucille McCoy, Lillie Calhoun, Inez Burcham, and Pearl Allen.
Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, where the family will receive friends after 4:00 PM on Thursday, August 17, 2017. Funeral services will be at Goodwin Funeral Home at 3:00 PM Friday, August 18, 2017, with the Reverend John Mitchell officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at East End Cemetery in Cadiz.
